The origin and growth of Christians at Dombivli-Thakurli can be traced to the 1960s when a few migrant catholic families settled down in the township. One of the initial activities of the new Diocese was to purchase a flat in Ambika Palace (Flat No.D-10), near Dombivli Station and appoint two priests having jurisdiction from Thane to Titwala and Karjat.
